Democrats VS. Automation

I read an article titled, Democrats, Avoid the Robot Rabbit Hole published by Paul Krugman on Oct. 17, 2019. It was a very interesting reading, I was first expecting to disagree with Krugman, but later actually agreed with him. In the article, Krugman writes that Democrats, Andrew Yang and Bernie Sanders specifically, have been avoiding the topic of automation. Automation for those who don’t know is the use of automatic equipment in a system to manufacture goods or simply to get work done.  Krugman’s intended audience must be other republicans. The audience must also be business oriented or the working class, due to the topic being about how automation can affect the employment of US citizens. The person reading the article must be interested in what the future may look like. I believe that Krugman’s logic is that automation is not a matter to worry about and that the fact that a candidate Andrew Yang based his campaign on automation is “inadequate”.  The argument Krugman is tryi

Homophobia at Shakopee

I began reading the article titled, “TRANS BEHIND BARS: HOMOPHOBIA PERSISTS AT SHAKOPEE PRISON AFTER END TO NO-TOUCH POLICY” published on the 30th of September, 2019. The author, Adryan Corcione, writes about how in Shakopee prison there has been a lot of movement going on regarding the treatment of inmates at the prison. Corcione argues that inmates have been discriminated against based on their sexual orientation or gender expression and we should come together to make a change. There have also been several cases of inmates being denied hormone replacement therapy (HRT). A no-touch policy has also been implemented to prevent inmates from touching others. The inmates would be punished for a simple high-five.   I believe that the audience this article is intended to reach is the LGBTQ+ community and its supporters.
